The Sony smart watchstraps come in two models – the silicone Wena Active (for formal watches) and the metal Wena Pro (for sporty watches). You can also choose one of Sony’s Wena watch heads. It offers the look and feel of a traditional watch. The Wena watches will cost between GBP 100 and GBP 450.

The Sony Wena Active strap is priced in the UK at GBP 349 (approx Rs 31,900). Whereas the Wena Pro strap costs GBP 399 (approx Rs 34,500). It comes in Black and Silver color options. As an introductory offer. the company is offering its basic Three Hands watch head for free with all strap purchases.

As of now, there is no information about the Indian price or launch date.

The new Wena Pro and Wena Active fit onto existing traditional watches. The sensors and battery are placed within the clasps of the Sony Wena straps. A two-line display shows calls and other notifications from a paired smartphone. You can customize vibration and LED lighting in seven colors for quick recognition.

Both variants can track steps taken and calories burned. However, only the Wena Active comes with a GPS receiver and heart rate monitor. It can also be worn independently like a fitness tracker. While the Wena Pro strap is water resistant to 5ATM, the Wena Active can handle up to 3ATM.

The contactless payments are handled via the Sony’s Wena Pay platform (developed in partnership with Mastercard, NXP and Wirecard).

The interchangeable Wena watch heads and straps are designed to work with a variety of analog watches (including solar-powered and chronograph models). Both straps come with 18mm, 20mm, and 22mm watch lugs.

It was developed through in the company’s internal Seed Acceleration Programme that aims to explore ideas outside of Sony’s existing product category or business vertical.
