Twitter Leak: Company Reveals That A Bug Exposed User Passwords

Microblogging platform Twitter asked its users on 3rd May 2018 to change their passwords. This notice was due to a Twitter leak caused by a software bug. According to the company, they had “unmasked” passwords by mistake through a software bug. The company mentioned that the data hasn’t been exposed to any hackers. But Twitter urged its users to change their passwords for safety.

Twitter Data Leak: Micro-Blogging Platform Sold Data To Cambridge Analytica Researcher

Post Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica incident, reports regarding a Twitter data leak have surfaced everywhere and has been confirmed to be true. The microblogging platform sold data access to Global Science Research (GSR), owned by Aleksandr Kogan. Kogan was the Cambridge University academic who created a personality quiz on social networking site Facebook. He used to it gain access to information later used by Cambridge Analytica. Information regarding millions of Facebook users was obtained. The information was provided to a political consulting firm, SCL Group. It was provided without any consent from users.
