Meizu Zero With No Physical Buttons Listed On Indiegogo Crowdfunding Site

Last week, Meizu launched an extremely minimalist smartphone without a single physical button. The Meizu Zero uses pressure sensitive volume and power buttons. The 3.5mm audio jack, SIM tray slot, and a charging port are also absent. Price and Availability

The Meizu Zero smartphone was launched in China without a  price tag or availability details. On Indiegogo, the new handset is listed at $1,299 (approx Rs 92,400) for the ‘Exclusive Engineering Unit’. Shipping starts (up to 100 units) from April onwards. So far, the company has raised $23,812 (approx Rs 1,694,100). It aims to reach a fixed funding goal of $100,000.

The new smartphone sports a 5.99-inch Super AMOLED display with full-HD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels) resolution and 2.5D curved glass protection. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with Adreno 630 GPU. The handset comes with Super mCharge (18W) wireless charging support.

In terms of optics, the Meizu Zero sports a dual camera setup on the back. It combines a 12-megapixel primary sensor, 20-megapixel telephoto lens, and a LED flash. For selfies and video calling, it sports a 20-megapixel front camera.

The new handset runs Android OS (unspecified version) with Flyme 7 on top. It comes with Face Unlock support. Connectivity options include Bluetooth v5 and eSIM support. The minimalistic device comes in Black and White glossy back panels. It features an in-display fingerprint scanner. There is no notch or a display hole for the front camera. The selfie cam is located on a slight chin on the top.

The unique design carries no physical buttons or slots. Even the even the SIM-tray slot is missing. The company has integrated pressure-sensitive volume and power button (using mEngine 2.0 tech). The dust and the water-resistant device comes with an IP68 rating. It can withstand immersion underwater for up to 30 minutes.

Since there is no 3.5mm audio jack or a USB-Type C port, users will have to rely on wireless Bluetooth audio accessories. Instead of the usual speaker grille, the new handset uses mSound 2.0 technology that uses the smartphone’s display as a speaker and an earpiece.

The Vivo Apex 2019 concept phone is also expected to come without any physical buttons. According to recent leaks and rumors, the Vivo Apex 2 sports liquid metal construction. It features a very round design with almost no bezels. The front camera seems to be absent. On the back, the handset sports a dual camera setup with an LED flash. Additional features include an in-display fingerprint sensor.
