[How to] Enable 2-Step Verification On Gmail Account

With the increasing amount of cyber crime on the web one thing clear is that internet is not safe today. A survey which was organized by people from the industry states that most of the cyber crimes happen due to ease of access and carelessness for example weak passwords which are easy to break in.

Companies like Google, Microsoft, Dropbox etc. who own the web lodged so many complaints for such cases in-spite of continuous awareness campaigns. Following the pattern of OTPs which major banking systems follow, these web firms also went on the similar trend and came up with two step verification method so provide extreme security to make accounts least prone to the hijacks which were often reported.

2-step verification introduction

Two step verification method which is still not popular is the new standard to provide a security layer to your web accounts. Under this two step verification, a user is asked to activate the service on his/her account along with registering a mobile number. So next time whenever the user log-in to a new device he/she shall be asked to enter his password as usual ( or an optional randomly generated string ) and a compulsory verification code that will be received on his/her mobile number which will be only valid for this session.

2-step verification procedure

We strongly recommend every one to activate two step verification. Following is a step-by-step guide on how to activate two step verification on Google account similarly can be done on other web services.

    1. Visit your account page.
    2. Click on security on the left side pane.
    3. Select 2-step verification and click on edit.
    4. Get your mobile device verified with the Google account. First step is verifying the mobile number for two step authentication.
    5. After the verification process is done, you will be asked to keep this computer in trusted list or not. You may select that if you are using your own personal pc.
    6. And you are all set to go now. You have achieved two step security layer which keeps your account privacy and protects from attacks.

Get Facebook New News Feed Design Immediately

We earlier told you about Facebook’s new Newsfeed design. In this design Facebook has bigger images and it allows multiple feeds for different interests. Then it will give you more consistent user experience across mobile devices. Many of us already had new newsfeed on their Facebook profile, but many of us and my friends don’t has it. It’s a slow process of rolling out this new design and Facebook also commented on slow rolling of this new design, “We are beginning a slow rollout of this new design today. We will be testing and closely monitoring key metrics to optimize this experience for both users and developers. Our goal is to build the highest quality product for people, however long it takes.”

How To Make Google Chrome More Useful

Yes, Chrome is the number one browser in the world. And in my opinion its best one too. There are other browsers like Firefox, Opera and safari also available. But I am used to of Chrome and in this post I am going to talk about, How to make Google Chrome more useful?. In this post I will talk about some useful extensions that are available in the Chrome Store. There are thousands of extensions available in different categories in the Google Chrome store, sometime it becomes too hard to choose one. A right extension can improve your web browsing experience without disturbing the pages and links you are browsing. You have the option to sync all these extensions across multiple machines. In India usually everyone browse with a dial-up connection, everyone don’t have a broadband connection. So sometimes opening a  website becomes too slow, so these extensions come in very handy when it comes to extending the functionalists of Google Chrome.

The best of Android is now not only available in the United States and Europe but also has finally landed here in India. I think we don’t need any introduction for the handset. Nexus 4 the wildly popular hardware which has been designed by LG under the nexus series from Google has now arrived in India for 25,999 INR.

Nexus 4 was launched last year in September 2012 only for US and UK markets by Google at a brilliant price tag of $299 for 8 GB model and $349 for 16GB model. The fire sale couldn’t match the stocks and ultimately lots were kept on hold. Even Google didn’t expected general masses to be interested in buying this developer’s paradise. With its great success, they planned to make it available to others parts of the world and here we see it in India today.
