The new handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage (expandable). It is backed by a big 3800mAh battery. For photography, the Thuraya X5-Touch comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera.

The dual-SIM smartphone (2G/3G/4G network slot + satellite network slot) comes with a dual mode that keeps both SIM slots ‘always on’simultaneously. Users can easily switch between two cellular and satellite networks.
The satellite smartphone runs Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. Apart from available Android apps, developers will be allowed easy access to develop and customize apps for users. The handset uses the ‘Bring Your Own Application’ (BYOA) concept. It features Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, GPS, BeiDou and GLONASS as connectivity options.
Design & Display
The Thuraya X5-Touch sports a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). It is made of glare resistant Gorilla glass that works even when it is wet or while wearing gloves.
The satellite smartphone comes with IP67 rating (water and dust resistance) along with MIL-STD 810 certification (works in extreme weather conditions). It comes with thick bezels and weighs 262 grams. Additional features include advanced navigation and tracking functions and a built-in SOS button.
The Thuraya Telecommunications Company is a subsidiary of the Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat). It is known for making phones for the fishing sector, exploration companies, defense personnel, NGOs and transport companies. This helps users to stay connected in remote areas where there is no cell phone coverage.
