BlackBerry has launched its Android based smartphone, called the BlackBerry DTEK50. Highlight of the phone is its encryption capabilities. Touted as the world’s most secure Android smartphone, it is FIPS 140-2 compliant and encrypts user’s crucial information such as personal data and business data. It also alerts users if someone is remotely accessing phone’s camera, microphone or location information.
BlackBerry has launched its Android powered smartphone, dubbed the BlackBerry Priv, in the Indian market.
As for specifications, it is powered by a 64-bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor paired with Adreno 418 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It features a 5.43-inch Quad HD AMOLED dual curved display with resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and pixel density of 540ppi. The screen comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection against scratches. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system.
BlackBerry has launched its premium smartphone- BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite Edition in the Indian market. The BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9983 was initially introduced in September 2014 while Graphite Edition was unveiled in April 2015.
The Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite Edition comes with exclusive graphite-metallic colored elements and hand-wrapped leather on the back door cover. The device also comes with a unique PIN feature which is an exclusive Porsche Design PIN provided to every user. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Running BlackBerry OS 10, it features a 3.1-inch OLED display with 720×720 pixels resolution.
BlackBerry is said to be working on an Android based smartphone. If a report by Reuters is to believed, it will be the first phone from BlackBerry powered by Google Inc.’s Android operating system. According to two Reuters sources, BlackBerry’s upcoming handset could be a slider device. It might also feature touch screen along with physical QWERTY keyboard.
To recall, a BlackBerry slider smartphone was unveiled at Mobile World Congress this year and we could expect the same handset to arrive with Android operating system. As of now, there is no word on whether the company will use Android OS on all its upcoming devices ditching the BB10 operating system or it will launch just one Android powered smartphone.

The BlackBerry Leap smartphone which was unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2015, has now reached Indian shores. Priced at Rs. 21,490, the handset will go on sale through Blackberry exclusive stores in the country starting today. To recall, the Leap comes with 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor paired with 2GB of RAM and runs BlackBerry 10.3.1 OS.
