Asus MeMo Pad 7 Inch Budget Tablet Launched- Video Review, Price and Details

Updated on 27th February 2013

Asus has formally launched the Memo Pad ME172V in India at a price of Rs.9999 only. When it comes to features and specifications, the Memo Pad 7 inch has many similarities to the popular Google Nexus 7 tablet especially in the display size, form factor and build, but these two have major differences when it comes to the processor, memory and hence the performance of these two tablets is quite different. As Memo Google Nexus 7 is already on sale in India at a much premium pricing, Asus has kept the Memo pad at a much affordable price for the price conscious buyers who don’t need top notch processors because of their usage profile on the device. Those who need high performance and quality, can anyway spend more and get the Nexus 7 which has got a faster processor, high resolution display, NFC and Corning glass to name a few extra features over the Memo Pad.

Aakash 2 Tablet At Rs. 1500 For Students

The Indian government might just increase the subsidized price of the country’s cheapest tablet, the Aakash 2 from the current Rs.1,130 to Rs.1,500. The country’s President, Mr.Pranab Mukherjee had launched the Aakash 2 back in November at a price of Rs.1,130 for the students at a subsidized price whereas the commercial version of the tablet started selling as the UbiSlate 7Ci at a price of Rs.4,499. The country’s Telecom and IT minister, Mr.Kapil Sibal has been the one to make this announcement.

A couple of days ago, Mr.Kapil Sibal stated to the reporters that, “I asked Rajat Moona (director general, C-DAC) to help us in Aakash. Let us take that Aakash to the people of this country for a sum of Rs 1,500. Each student must have a Aakash in his/her hand so that they can see the world with it,” Now what we infer from this is that either the government intends on increasing the subsidised price of the slate or Rs.1,500 would be the price tag of the next generation of tablet.

Apple iPad 4 with 128 GB announced for Rs.49,900

Many people shunned away the iPad as a computer replacement because it did not have adequate memory to compete with a laptop or an ultrabook. But Apple was resillient and hell bent on expanding their target audience. And catering to precisely these needs, have launched the iPad 4 in a 128 GB avatar. There were speculations of the iPad coming in a 128 GB version and Apple has silenced them all by indeed launching the iPad.

The most interesting part is that the Indians get the iPad at the same time as the global release and at a price at which it would sell in the global markets. The latest version of the slate will retail for Rs.49,900 for the Wi-Fi version which will be sold for $799 in global markets and Rs.56,900 for the Cellular and Wi-Fi version which would retail for $929 in the foreign lands. It will be sold through the Apple retail stores and authorised re-sellers.

The price is inclusive of all the taxes you can think of and will start shipping in the first week of February and the date will be February 5 to be precise. The latest version of the tablet will come with the latest vesion of Apple’s propreitary OS. It will ship with iOS 6.1 and has support for LTE but that is pretty much a waste in our country since even the 3G has not found many takers, let alone 4G. So Apple could make do with removing the LTE support for the Indian iteration and make it a tad bit cheaper.
